Oughtrington Community Centre, nestled in the picturesque town of Lymm, Cheshire, enlisted our services amid the challenges posed by the Coronavirus pandemic. Initially approached for routine fire extinguisher maintenance, our involvement quickly evolved into a holistic initiative to bring the facility up to compliance standards. Recognizing the importance of a thorough assessment, we conducted a meticulous Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) and collaborated closely with the committee to address identified issues.

Upon completion of the FRA, it became evident that an upgraded Fire Detection and Alarm System, modern and compliant, was imperative. The existing system lacked efficiency and posed potential risks. In collaboration with Nick, a committee member, we strategically selected optimal locations and equipment types to minimize false alarms, ensuring the system not only met present needs but was future-proofed as well.

The proposed Addressable Fire Alarm System was tailored to the unique needs of Oughtrington Community Centre. However, challenges emerged during installation, particularly with impractical cable routing due to the building's age and structural limitations. A prompt site meeting addressed these concerns, leading to an agreed-upon alternative solution. Cables were discreetly run along the covings at the top of the walls in older sections, ensuring a seamless and unobtrusive installation.

The installation process encountered typical retrofitting obstacles in existing structures. The discovery of inaccessible cable routing areas demanded quick thinking and a flexible approach. By strategically running cables along the covings, we overcame these challenges without compromising the integrity of the installation. This adaptability ensured the project remained on schedule and within the agreed budget.

The project was completed on time, meeting all objectives and adhering to budgetary constraints. Following installation, committee members underwent comprehensive training on system usage. Our commitment to ensuring end-user proficiency garnered positive feedback from Nick, a committee member, in the form of a Google review.
